During this self-guided tour, you’ll take a deep dove into Hastings’ 1931 earthquake – New Zealand’s worst natural disaster to date. You’ll be able to go at your own pace and begin the route from any point of your choice.
The audio guide will lead you through areas that were devastated by the tragedy, and you’ll hear stories of survivors and how the city was rebuilt. Some of the locations you’ll visit along the route include the Clock Tower, Roach’s Department Store, Hawkes Bay Opera House and the Hastings Cenotaph war memorial.
